China Airlines
photo
Ok, now I'm freakin out! China Airlines has always been my airline of choice to travel to China on my sourcing trips. I have many thousands of frequent flier miles racked up. What do I do? This is the second major accident in five years. They are significantly less expensive than the other airlines... As Charlie Brown says "Argghhh!" Anybody have any advice?

Big Jack's biggest fan
photo
I am convinced that there is no dog anywhere that loves to play ball more than my dog Micah. While in development with Big Jack, I brought home many balls to test.... with the kids, not the dog. It seemed like the second I got out of the car, my little buddy was there to greet me and see what ball I brought home. He has had tennis balls and soft balls and baseballs and whiffle type balls. He's had rubber balls and leather balls and even those splashy pool balls. I can tell you to a factual certainty that his favorite ball of all time is the Big Jack ball. Not any particular one but any Big Jack ball. There is something about the texture of the leatherette cover or the softness of the air pressurized chewy center. (he never seems to get to it) that just drives him wild. Maybe it's the bright red Big Jack logo. Whatever it is, all I can tell you is that scattered around the yard among all the rocks and trees are dozens of new and old Big Jack balls. For a Golden Retriever he is amazing. He will run and get a well driven Big Jack ball over and over again. The only problem is that when I'm done playing, I go in the house. He then goes and, like my kids, leaves the ball just lying around. After a day or so he forgets where he put it. He'll sniff all around like he's looking for it but what he really wants is a brand new ball to play with. Eventually I'll go into my car and pull out a new one and launch it with the convenient Big Jack bat I keep in my trunk. After a few times he can't find the freshly hit ball so he'll wander around and find one of his old balls. The process starts all over again. Micah has got to be eight or nine. I'm not too sure. All I know is that people constantly think he's a puppy. I think it must be Big Jack that is his "Fountain of Youth."

Rejection

Rejection and Failure

It's par for the course. I could go on, page after page dedicated to my failures. Instead I choose to embrace them. Simply put, my failures have become stepping stones to my successes. Many times I just do stuff with the idea that the outcome is not what I am looking for just so I can go through the process. This allows me to keep my feet moving in a direction, even the wrong direction, in hopes of finding some unique solution or novel approach no one else has come up with. The obvious is sometime the best teacher. Gotta go now. I'm procrastinating on doing a new package for a totally new toy out in June. Oh yeah, the pic is a bunch of Big Jack Bats that I just couldn't get to work. I was in a factory in China and was having one of those days...

Miracle League of San Diego
photo
Opening Day

Last weekend was opening day for The Miracle League of San Diego. I had the greatest time. Big Jack is kind of the unofficial bat for the league. It's really cool to make a product that serves such a big purpose. I know in my heart that no other product would do what Big Jack does for these kids in this exact circumstance. Every time they hit the ball and their face lites up, I felt like I had a little part of it. When their parents an sibs were cheering, I felt like I had a little part of that. It just felt good to see them succeed. Many of these kids have stuff going on that makes having an everyday, normal life like many of us are accustomed to just impossible. That's why these moments are important. They are there with their family and friends. They are smiling and happy. They just hit a fly ball into the outfield. They feel just like every other kid playing little league ball. Susie and Dan Engel spearheaded this field in San Diego. They had a vision a few years ago after seeing a show on the league. They did something about it. I am forever greatful to them for giving me the opportunity to be a part of it. For more info.... Miracle League of San Diego

Ta-Dah!

I finally finish the new website. It still needs a lot of work. The hardest part was trying to get the 2007 line together while trying to update the site. I completely underestimated the time it was going to take. Hopefully this new site will allow me to be more creative and give me the chance to have some fun. The picture is my cat. I sure love the Mac photo booth.
